"HIJRA" - THE WATCH WITH AN ISLAMIC CALENDAR
The harmonious combination of the strict external design of the watch with the décor’s traditional Islamic elements best portrays a modern view of the cultural and historical heritage of the Islamic civilization. All the numerals, as well as the names of the days of the week and months on the dial are written in the Arabic language, understandable for the majority of Muslims in the world.
The traditions of Islamic architecture are reflected in the shape of the hands – the hour hand is made in the form of the dome of a mosque, and the minute hand like a minaret. The Islamic calendar date indicator hand is crowned with the most famous symbol of Islam – the crescent. addition, the watch shows the days of the week and the moon phases. The perfect finishing of the movement and the noble watch decoration eloquently testify its belonging to Haute Horlogerie.
MOVEMENT
The calibre K.01-2 M of the “Hijra” watch was developed by Konstantin Chaykin and is equipped with his Hijra Islamic calendar complication invention. The movement was made entirely at the Konstantin Chaykin manufactory and is made according to the standards of haute horlogerie. Components finished using classical techniques: striped andperlage; fine longitudinal and circular grindings; manual chamfering, polishing; polished screw holes, pins and jewels; spherical polishing of the axel tips; and galvanized plating of rhodium and gilding. A distinctive feature of the movement is the use of four gold ouches, and a “Pacman” branded thermometer (a device developed by Konstantin Chaykin to fine tune the effective length of the spring).
