JOKER SELFIE – WATCH AS A SELF-PORTRAIT
This is the world’s first mechanical watch with a selfie dial, an invention by Konstantin Chaykin. That’s why the watch was given the name “Selfie” – Joker Selfie Only Watch-2019 Piece Unique. To reinforce the portrait of the Joker watchmaker, Chaykin decided to add a stylized watchmaker’s magnifying glass with real magnifying sapphire crystal above the Joker’s right eye, which serves as the hour indicator – the first in Konstantin Chaykin’s collection and possibly ever.
PRODUCTION
Recalling the early years of the development of his brand, when he used Soviet-produced calibers as the basis for developing his unique watch movements, Konstantin Chaykin decided to turn to the heritage of the great Soviet watchmaking industry again. Specially for the Joker Selfie Only Watch-2019 Piece Unique he decided to develop a new movement, based on the famous precision Caliber 2809 of the Chistopol Watch Factory, known as “Vostok”.

JOKER SELFIE SECRET FUNCTION
Konstantin Chaykin couldn't resist the temptation to build a secret function into the Joker Selfie Only Watch-2019 Piece Unique. You can find out the secret of the watch by turning the watch so that its case is horizontal. Then the right eye of the Joker dial with the hour display is closed by a shutter, and in a special window at the 12 o’clock position, a unique day of the week display opens at the same moment, in which each day of the week is indicated by an emoji drawn by Konstantin Chaykin himself, based on his Joker and other models in the Wristmons collection. To understand which day of the week is represented in this display, you need to use the instructions on which a hint is printed – all seven emoji jokers and the corresponding names of the days of the week. When the watch case is not horizontal, the emoji day of the week display is closed and the right eye of the Joker dial with the hour display is open – the watch looks as if it holds no secret.
MOVEMENT
The solid technical features of Caliber 2809 are complemented by a high-quality design and finish, provided by Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture. The newly-developed movement is a great choice to use in haute horlogerie collectable watches. The original platina was heavily modified, especially for the installation of a Joker-indication module. The barrel bridge, main gear bridge, escape-wheel cock, pallet cock, balance cock, barrel wheel, index and index spring were newly manufactured. In addition, the movement is endowed with typical signs of high watchmaking art – polished caps of the escape-wheel cock and main gear bridge, and a newly-designed spring-held pawl click of the barrel wheel. Movement parts are decorated in accordance with the high standards of the Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture – a glimpse through the sapphire-crystal caseback will reveal all the details.
Caliber: K.21-0, hand-wound, developed and produced by Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture on the base of Soviet precision Caliber 2809 of Tschistopolsky watch factory; highly modified by Konstantin Chaykin according to haute horlogerie standards and equipped with Joker-indication module.
Power reserve: 46 hours

Sapphire crystal for watchmaker’s magnifying glass diameter 9.5 mm
Konstantin Chaykin has cut a lens from synthetic sapphire with a diameter of 9.5 mm for the unique miniature watchmaker's loupe, which is mounted on a crystal of a Joker Selfie watch.
JOKER EMOJI DAY OF THE WEEK SECRET INDICATOR
Instead of a standard day of the week display with the names of the days, Konstantin Chaykin has designed a special window at the top of the watch face where you can see the unique emoji day of the week display with special jJoker-style emojis designed by Chaykin to represent the days of the week.CASE
Another hint from the history of the Konstantin Chaykin brand is the case made of genuine stainless bulat steel. This is an extremely tough, hard to work and exotic steel alloy, previously used by Konstantin Chaykin in his famous Lunokhod watches. Bulat steel has been used for many centuries by sword makers to produce the best quality blades, which can’t be surpassed by any modern high-tech alloy. Sword makers preferred to keep the exact recipe of bulat steel secret, so it has been lost and re-discovered again and again.
